December was a fun month. The boys turned 8 months old which is so hard to believe. We had a lot of family time this month which was really great. It was so neat to be sharing this season with our boys. Last year during Christmas time I was pregnant with the boys and just kept thinking about how special this year would be with them and it truly was. They are getting to be so much fun. They love to be in the floor just rolling around playing. Jacob will roll across the room in two seconds flat! It is crazy how much that kids moves. Jackson like to be int he floor playing but a lot of times will just lay there sucking his fingers. He doesn't care about much of anything. It is so awesome to see them smile and hear them laugh...I am about to cry right now just thinking about it. Every morning when I walk in their room they are so happy to see me. Just as soon as they hear my voice or see me they get so happy. Jacob will kick and squeal and Jackson will lay there and smile the biggest smile ever. They are just so precious. What amazing gifts from God they are.
We tried three new foods this month...green beans, peaches and a broccoli, cauliflower and carrot mixture. The green beans didn't go over so well. Jackson did ok with them but Jacob of course was like...this is green so I don't think so Mom. They both LOVED peaches...they definitely belong to me! The veggie mixture went over really well the first time but later in the month not so much. They took it as long as I put some applesauce in it. They both are really bad at gagging. We have been working on our pincher grasp this month and they are doing very well. They both started picking up little puff snacks with their pointer finger and thumb this month and put them in their mouths.
On the 16th aunt Amy started giving them bread to chew on from the dinner table. They really enjoyed it. Then on the 21st they had pizza for the first time....I gave them a piece of crust to chew on. :) I gave it to Jackson first and he was going to town then I made a really bad choice...I was going to take it and give it to Jacob to let him try...you should have seen the fit that Jackson pitched. He puckered up and cried. It was so sad. :) lol
The last week and a half of December the boys were both very sick on and off. On the 23rd while I was at church Jacob started throwing up. He threw up several times throughout the day. Then that evening Jackson started throwing up. We gave them Pedialyte to try and keep them hydrated. We prayed over them that night and put them to bed. I slept in their room on an air mattress just to make sure everything was ok with them through the night. They both slept through the night almost 13 hours. They seemed to be ok the next day and we were able to enjoy our Christmas Eve and Christmas day festivities as a family.
Then on December 31st I took the boys to the doctor because they had both developed a pretty nasty cough. They were both diagnosed with RSV and Jackson had a double ear infection. Jackson was given a breathing treatment in the doctor's office and we were sent home with a machine to continue the breathing treatments for both of the boys for a few days. Jackson was sent home with an antibiotic. It is so hard to see them so sick. They were both in pretty bad shape. I was so thankful that we were able to avoid the hospital though. They were just so pitiful for the rest of the week into the new year. They were such good boys even though they were sick though. I don't know how I have two such amazing baby boys. By Wednesday they were starting to smile and kick again. That is always a good sign even though you could tell they still didn't feel well.
By the end of the month:
Jacob: What I have discovered about Jacob more this month is that he is such a mover. He cracks me up daily with how much he moves. He hardly ever stops moving unless he is sleeping and even then he moves a lot. He kicks and moves his arms so much. We call him a frog or a swimmer. I swear if we put him in water he would swim. ha ha ha Aunt Amy brought them some toys for when they are able to sit up and play. I have them over in the corner in the living room and Jacob always scoots over there to play with them. it is so funny. He is starting to get closer to sitting up by himself. He will sit for several seconds but falls over. We are still working on it.
Jackson: Jackson is so laid back pretty much at all times. There is nothing much that phases him unless you try and take his food away from him. He is definitely rolling a lot but not quite as much as Jacob. He can do but it is like he just doesn't care as much. However, if we put him in the Jumperoo he goes absolutely crazy. He jumps so high and so much in that thing. It is so funny. I hadn't been putting him in it because he would spit up every time but while he was spending the night with Mimi one night she put him in the Jumperoo and she said he didn't spit up at all. So we have been having more time in that because he loves it. I had a revelation about Jackson on the 11th...I think...I could be wrong but I think he may be left handed. He was picking up all his puff snacks with his left pointer finger and left thumb and when I noticed that I realized that he always ALWAYS sucks his first two fingers on his left hand. Every now and then he will casually suck on his right hand but when he is sucking to soothe it is his left hand. Again I could be wrong but we shall see. My Mama and Papa and Uncle Paul are all left handed. Time will tell.
Here are some of our pictures from December. Christmas pictures to come later.
